Industrial Starter

Before you start

  • White PVA craft glue. We use Aleene's Turbo Tacky: the bottle for big jobs, a glue pen for fine beads.
  • Small clamps to hold pieces while they dry.
  • Precision tweezers or a pointed tool for punching out small pieces and slots.

Tips & tricks

  • The front of a sheet is the side the die cut went into; it has the rolled edges. The back is flat.
  • Pieces punch out most easily when pushed from the back.
  • Fold every score fully so its edge is crisp and straight. It's cardboard, so it sometimes needs a little help.
  • Be a little generous with glue. It wipes up with a dry or slightly damp paper towel and dries clear.
  • Glue marks and their targets always match in shape and size.
  1. Step 1 of 31 Platform tops

    Step 1 diagram
    1. Glue indicated pieces as shown.
    2. Make sure that doubled up edges are aligned before drying.
    3. These create the PLATFORM TOP pieces.
  2. Step 2 of 31

    Step 2 diagram
    1. Clamp pieces every 3 inches or so as shown to dry.
  3. Step 3 of 31 Support structure

    Step 3 diagram
    1. Assemble support structure as shown.
    2. Use a generous bead of glue on edges that contact the assembled PLATFORM TOP pieces.
    3. See the Tips & Tricks video for the most effective method of gluing the plugs.
    4. Clean any excess glue and allow to dry.

  4. Step 4 of 31

    Step 4 diagram
    1. Assemble similar to previous panel.
  5. Step 5 of 31 Legs

    Step 5 diagram
    1. On pieces 18 & 20 ensure all scores are crisply and evenly folded.
    2. When assembling leg pieces, put glue dots in the end of the slots on the larger folded pieces before sliding on the smaller pieces.
    3. Check legs for square before allowing to dry.
  6. Step 6 of 31

    Step 6 diagram
    1. No glue is required.
    2. Assemble as indicated.
    3. These pieces fit snugly. Be careful when sliding piece 03 on the double plugs to not bend or tear any pieces. Slow and steady wins this race.

Note There are 2 extra 02 pieces in the set. That is expected.

  7. Step 7 of 31

    Step 7 diagram
    1. Glue and assemble as indicated.
  8. Step 8 of 31

    Step 8 diagram
    1. See the Tips & Tricks video for the most effective method of gluing the plugs.

    2. The platforms, legs, extenders, and feet can be combined in many ways.
  12. Step 12 of 31 Steps

    Step 12 diagram
    1. When assembling steps pieces, put glue dots in the end of the slots on the side riser pieces before sliding on the smaller tread pieces.
    2. Ensure steps side risers are straight up and down before allowing to dry.

Note There are 2 extra 26 pieces in the set. That is expected.

  13. Step 13 of 31

    Step 13 diagram
    1. On pieces 66 & 67 ensure all scores are crisply and evenly folded.
    2. Then glue, clamp, and let dry.
  14. Step 14 of 31

    Step 14 diagram
    1. On piece 69 ensure all scores are crisply and evenly folded.
    2. Then ensure piece 68 is glued into the area indicated, as centered as possible on all edges.
  15. Step 15 of 31

    Step 15 diagram
    1. Clamp previous piece as shown.
    2. Glue additional piece 68 into place, with similar tolerances on the edges.
  16. Step 16 of 31 Container exterior

    Step 16 diagram
    1. Wrap piece 69 fully around, gluing additional piece 68 into place.
    2. Clamp as shown and allow to dry.
    3. This forms the CONTAINER EXTERIOR piece.
  17. Step 17 of 31 End pieces

    Step 17 diagram
    1. Glue pieces 64 and 65 to each other as shown. Their back sides should be glued.
    2. Piece 64 should be as centered as possible within piece 65.
    3. Clamp and allow to dry.
    4. Two of these form the END PIECES for the container.
  18. Step 18 of 31

    Step 18 diagram
    1. Run a thin line of glue along the outside edge of piece 64 on both assembled END PIECES.
    2. Insert them into the ends of the assembled CONTAINER EXTERIOR piece.
    3. Clean any excess glue and allow to dry.
  19. Step 19 of 31

    Step 19 diagram
    1. Glue and assemble as indicated.
    2. See the Tips & Tricks video for the most effective assembly method.

  20. Step 20 of 31 Doors (optional)

    Step 20 diagram
    1. Optional: you can glue doors onto one or both ends of your container as desired.
  21. Step 21 of 31 Beam

    Step 21 diagram
    1. Make sure glue marks and targets match size and shape, and that doubled up edges are aligned before drying.
    2. Glue pieces 47 & 48 together first and let dry.
    3. Tabs on the edge of piece 48 will only fit into the front side of slots in piece 46 in one way.
    4. This will make a BEAM piece.

    2. Also ensure that the indicator line adjacent to the glue mark on piece 46 is lined up with the edge of the other assembled BEAM piece.
  23. Step 23 of 31

    Step 23 diagram
    1. Glue and assemble as indicated.
  24. Step 24 of 31

    Step 24 diagram
    1. The finished piece should look like so.
  25. Step 25 of 31

    Step 25 diagram
    1. When assembling cover pieces, put glue dots in the end of the slots on the large face pieces before sliding on the leg support pieces.
    2. Then, before the glue dries, make sure the leg support pieces are perpendicular to the large face pieces.
